CANON INFORMATION

CHARACTER NAME: Rover
CANON: Original
HISTORY: N/A

STRENGTHS: •Compassionate - When it gets down to it, Rover cares about people. They were unintentionally created to be a savior-sort, and at their core it’s not something they can ignore. While they might come across as abrasive and mean at times, when push comes to shove they would stop at nothing to keep other people safe. They care, deeply, even if it’s not readily obvious. They’re no good at articulating that they care, but that doesn’t mean that they don’t. If asked why they would go to extreme levels to make sure other people are safe, they wouldn’t have an answer, but everything they do is for other people.
•Determined - Perhaps a better word would be stubbornness. Rover isn’t the type of person to ever give up - they’ll keep going and going until the succeed or they can’t go any more. They don’t see a point in giving up without accomplishing what you set out to do, and they’ll fight tooth and nail to meet their goals. Never say die and all of that. They’re determined for other people to meet their goals as well, and will drag other people along kicking and screaming to do what they feel is necessary.
•Light-hearted - Rover doesn’t take many things seriously. Most things that would be upsetting roll off them like water off a duck’s back, and they can be a bright spot on someone’s black mood. They’re cheerful and a jokester, fond of memes and inexplicable humor, and they enjoy sharing that with other people. They’re goofy when they’re not being callous, and can even be downright friendly. They enjoy making people laugh, and are proud of themself when they manage to do that.
FLAWS: •Sarcastic - Rover rarely says what they mean. Most of their words are wrapped in sarcasm and apathy, because it’s easier to be a sarcastic jerk than someone genuine. Sometimes that sarcasm can come across as cruelty, and Rover can be a rude little shit. It’s not like they don’t know this, too. Rover is well aware of how they can come across, and they simply don’t care. They like people, sure, but they see no reason why they should be nice to people or why they should say what they mean.
•Temperamental - Or moody, in a better word. Rover’s mood is mercurial and unpredictable. Generally cheerful, or at least pleasant, Rover can be angered at the drop of a hat. Whatever will upset Rover doesn’t have many warning signs, and they won’t bother to explain what’s happened to make them angry before lashing out. Rover simply has a lot of feelings they don’t have the experience to process, yet, and that means they can be overwhelmed and don’t know how to react to that beyond exploding. In time, this will probably ease up, but for now Rover has a hair-trigger temper and a penchant for storming off when angry. Or blowing things up in a very literal sense.
•Apathetic - Apart from saving the world, there’s not a lot that Rover cares about. It’s probably a good thing that saving the world is a lofty goal, because otherwise Rover would fall into nihilism and fatalism. For as much as they care about people conceptually, they rarely care about people individually, to the point they can be cruel and blunt to them because they don’t care about their feelings. They also don’t care about proving themself or making the world better beyond making sure the world doesn’t end. They simply don’t care about a lot of things beyond themself, just yet, making them selfish on top of just being apathetic.

CANON ABILITIES: As a robot, Rover has a few powers and gifts that make them unique. The first and most obvious is the fact they don’t need things like food or water or air to survive and can survive being in environments that lack those things. Secondly is the ability to transform - Rover’s original form is a sprawling, enormous mech outfitted with all sorts of weaponry that can be compacted into something the size of an average human. Rover is also capable of changing the appearance of their human form at a whim, or partially transforming into something between their “true” form and their human appearance.

They’re faster than a human, more durable, and stronger as well. They’re not indestructible, however they aren’t exactly something that can be killed. Any damage that risks destroying Rover puts them into a sort of sleep mode, until such time as they can be repaired.

AU INFORMATION

AU CHARACTER NAME: Rover
AGE: It’s Complicated - Rover is technically only a matter of months old, but they have the maturity of someone in their late teens/early 20s.
GRADE: Undergrad
AU BACKSTORY: •Rover was created one inauspicious night at the tail-end of an inspiration fueled binge by Rex*. He doesn’t remember much of how they were created, but seeing as Rover could think for themselves he felt weird about shutting them down.
•So Rover was allowed to be their own person, and they explored Soleil and Daybreak.
•Eventually, they decided they wanted to be a student, and as a partially-magical robot they were let in.
•Hopefully this isn’t a mistake.

*Rex’s involvement in their backstory has been discussed with Doc.
AU PERSONALITY DEVIATION: N/A

RACE: Robot
SECRET SOCIETY: Rover has no connection to any clans or secret societies.

POWERS: •Synthetic Benefits - The ability to survive when others wouldn’t, Rover doesn’t need food, air, or water and can survive in the harshest temperatures and circumstances. Any injury is something that can be shaken off, as long as Rover’s core isn’t damaged. They can always be repaired.
•Transformation - The ability to shift between a Battle Mode and a humanoid Scouting Mode, Rover possesses a variety of weapons - mainly various forms of guns and blades - and they can change their appearance on a whim.
•Equipment Change - Rover’s abilities can be upgraded or changed at any point, as long as they’re given the proper installation. Currently Rover doesn’t have any extra gear, but they have the possibility to be upgraded.
•Magic - Rover is capable of practicing magic, seeing as at their core they are a magical construct.

RP SAMPLE
INTERVIEW SAMPLE PROMPT
(The following scenario is available to all characters who are apping in and is considered canon - before formal admittance into Daybreak Academy the administrative staff will give a series of questions and prompts to get a better feel for the character. Respond to the prompts in-character. Characters may lie, mark if they do with the word "lie" in parenthesis after the question answer.)

1. WHAT DO YOU MOST DESIRE FOR YOUR EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE?
I want to learn how to feel. [They snicker.] Nah, but seriously, I don’t know. Learn stuff, I guess?

2. WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO ACHIEVE IN THE FUTURE?
Stopping this whole Nightfall thing, obviously. What else really matters?

4. WHAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR A SCHOOL TO OFFER TO ITS STUDENTS?
Education? That’s the whole point of this, isn’t it? To learn a damn thing? [They shrug.] I don’t know, I don’t know shit about school.

5. WHAT DO YOU FEEL MOST LIMITS YOU FROM ACHIEVING YOUR TRUE POTENTIAL?
The law. [Nope, they’re...not going to elaborate on that at all.]

8. WHAT ACTIVITIES DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN OUTSIDE YOUR EDUCATION?
I like people watching. People are fascinating when they think nobody’s looking.

9. WHEN GIVEN FREE TIME, WHAT DO YOU DO WITH IT?
Eh, not much. I guess I keep myself busy.

10. WHEN UNDER PRESSURE OF A TIGHT DEADLINE, HOW DO YOU RESPOND?
Get that shit done! [Gosh, it’s obvious.] What else are you supposed to do, get jackshit done and then fuck it all up? I don’t think so.

11. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM YOUR PEERS?
For them to be as human as they are. Or not human, I guess, for some of them. [They wave a hand.] If there’s one thing you can expect from people, it’s that they’ll be people.

13. DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN RELY ON YOUR PEERS, OR DO YOU FEEL YOU MUST EXCEL ON YOUR OWN?
Oh, pff, man. You can’t trust anyone.

15. WHAT ABOUT THE FUTURE DO YOU FEAR THE MOST?
All technology is obsolete at some point. Kinda don’t want that to happen.
